I winter sowed 11 different species and only six germinated. I also did some spring sowing of 5 different types and only three germinated. However! I feel like this is a good start.

With the exception of the Wild Strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) which only gave me three plants they all produced more than I should need for where I’ve planned to plant them so that makes me happy.

I’m also going to a native plant sale next week so we’ll see what else I grab.

My daughter says I have a problem and I told her she needs to peruse this sub and see that what I have so far is mild.

Good job!!! That’s hours of work. Are they all going into your garden eventually?

I did 6 species and none sprouted .I have popped off the lids and see if more light is what they needed before i start all my gardening.

Very nice! Up potting is a lot of finicky work. And fortunately those 3 strawberries will turn into approx 127 in 3 years 😊

Also feel free to share w your daughter that I winter sowed 67 native species + veggie starts also, so actually you’re the perfectly reasonable one 🙂

    Happy Mother’s Day ☺️

Props to you lol I usually just cut the milk jugs into like 1 in by 1 in squares and let whatever seedings in there figure it out lol

The strawberry is gonna take off like gangbusters once it’s in some good soil. When it starts throwing out runners with tiny babies on the tip, you can sink a pot of soil under the tip and gently press it into the soil in the pot to make a new plant. Once it’s good-sized and well-rooted, you can cut the runner, take up the pot, and plant your new plant in a new place. Or just let ’em go to fill up whatever bed they’re in. It won’t take long.
