    Soil needs way more rocks. Go 40% pumice 40% akadama 20% potting soil. The Astrophytum will be super happy in that. Maybe 30% potting soil but way more rocks.

    But, it got root rot from either too much or little water. They rot from the bottom up and can be hard to notice theyre rotting until it’s too late.

    Somewhere like madam cacti online can sell a replacement love her Astro selection

    Soil way too organic. astrophytum need 75% or more inorganic

    Its dead as many have said. Cacti and succulents thrive in inorganic planting media. Some organic being mixed in is ok but not the majority of the media. They also need tons of light. I recently killed a wal mart costa farms crested myrtocactus by not taking it out of its planting media and re potting it(was planning on it once i got all the plants put outside). Its not hard to kill if planted in the wrong stuff
