It’s a terrarium for an Indian Giant Praying Mantis, and this terrarium looks awful. It’s supposed to be self-sustaining but it doesn’t seem to work. It’s located on my bookshelf where there’s a lack of light, and I have only a small window. It used to have a monstera plant and a red bromeliad, but they almost died. I’m a beginner and have a brown thumb. Asking for some advice.

This enclosure doesn’t work for a self sustaining ecosystem. Moisture can escape. If you haven’t been watering it, then your plants probably needs misted. Also, a self sustaining ecosystem won’t work for a mantis. It needs insects to eat, this isn’t anywhere near large enough to support that without human assistance. Also, too much moisture from a sealed enclosure could potentially cause it to drown.
