Bagenalstown Community Garden, county Carlow, are set to bring their inspiring Postcard Garden to life at this year’s Bord Bia Bloom.

A garden, whatever the size or location, can spark connection and bring communities together through shared ideas, shared effort and shared pride in place.

This is the message behind the Bord Bia Bloom Postcard Gardens which are sponsored by Tirlán CountryLife. Community groups across the country submitted their stories and inspiration to win a place at Bloom 2026 with their plans for their Postcard Garden.

This year, 14 groups were successful and will have their gardens shown during Bord Bia Bloom in the Phoenix Park this June Bank Holiday weekend.

Bagenalstown Community Garden are looking forward to planting their garden, ‘A Landscape of Tradition’ which reflects on a lost wilderness and a landscape shaped by history, belief and human hands.

Travelling to Mount Leinster in 1786, it tells the story of Ireland’s last wolf and asks how can we reconnect with nature in the future.

The 14 groups, representing the length and breadth of Ireland, came together for morning tea recently hosted by Tirlán CountryLife ambassador Bláthnaid Treacy, where they picked up advice from Tirlán CountryLife expert horticulturists, shared their stories and collected their voucher to spend on their plants and flowers, ready for June.

Speaking about the Postcard Gardens, Ann Meaney, Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer, Tirlán CountryLife said,

“Every year, we’re so excited to see what these brilliant community gardeners are planning for their gardens. It’s a great reminder about how powerful even a small space can be in telling a story.

“Gardens are for everyone, whether you’re green fingered or a complete beginner – it’s all about the emotion and the joy they bring and we’re delighted to support each group and look forward to seeing them at Bloom.”
