My mother bought me this Lucky bamboo today, but it looks very off. I wanted to check the roots like I’ve seen on other posts here, but it looks like the rocks are glued together, and trapping the plant inside…Also, the shaving at the top of the two stalks; google says that they (Costa Farms) may have cut parts of it for propagation(?) I have only removed the tag and bindings and done nothing else.

My question is, how can i safely break this baby out of its current prison for repotting, or is it fine the way it is at the current size? (Or did my mom get scammed by Lowe’s?)

Apologies for being such an inexperienced plant parent. I want it to thrive.

Light amount: unknown. Indoor store shelf
Watering habits: have not watered yet. Worried about the glue chemical used to bind the pebbles

I’ve seen this plant sold as a fake plant quite a few times, where the stones were glued together. Even though the plant thickens very slowly, you should take it out of there anyway. You’ll have to do it sooner or later, so better sooner
