This result was what finally convinced the wife I need a different spreader.

Zone 5

Side note: I was impressed by how straight I got the lines.

Those stripes look clean but man your spreader really said “nah I’m good” on half the lawn

Man at this point there needs to be a class action lawsuit against Scotts.

Agreed you need a new spreader. The taping and foaming to fill the wheels will still have too much fertilizer land right beneath the spreader. You either have to 3d print the risers that have been mentioned on here to lift the spreader plate above the wheels, or [this website](http://www.nicegreenlawn.com) sells something that looks the address the same root cause. Looks to get the fertilizer up and over the wheels. Either of those can probably save the spreader, but if you have the cash just get a proper one.

Wasn’t sure what sub I was in for a second there…

Just get a chest mount spreader. I have the Solo brand. $75 on Amazon. Perfect for home lawns.

I’m stuck on the fact that you have to convince your wife to buy a spreader. Do people really ask permission to buy something like this?

Guess I got one of the rare Scott’s spreaders that works fine. Been using the same EdgeGuard mini for 12 years and never had lines.

Had a Scott’s mini for over a decade, eventually the differential, and everything above it gave up the ghost, I then got whatever Lowe’s has that is identical to Scott’s, in black, without edge guard and $20 less. Have never had an issue like this, nothing remotely resembling this.

I believe you have a Scott’s mini spreader, I believe you took a photo of your lawn. Based on my experience with this sub, I’m not sure a new spreader is going to improve your lawn situation.

Just got to use a super low setting, weigh out the correct amount of product for your lawn area, and crisscross over and over until it’s all used up.

Yeah, I had to point it out to my wife also. Her comment was, ‘why does that bother you?’ I bought a new one anyway!
