I’ve had a few disheartening false starts and disasters trying to grow in Henderson, NV. But this little guy finally popped up! Does he look ok?

Working with a bottom layer of branches and other yard trimmings that have been buried since my first attempts since last season I put a layer of blood meal to compensate for any nitrogen loss from the decaying wood layer. Compost, soil, worm castings, Olla watering system (although that’s getting an upgrade soon.) Mulch on top.

Lil guy is the only one out of three rows I planted to pop up and say hello so far. Hoping for insights to either stay the course or change something up for the others.

Oh that’s good to hear. I am really hoping my set up thrives.

I’m rebounding after an absolute failure of a first attempt at growing some veggies, but now I’m doing a 3’x18’ guild space with a Desert Gold low chill peach tree sentinel.

A lot of research and prep went into this one and so far I feel it’s on track.

  3. It looks good! Don’t worry, it took me three tries last year before my beans took off
