Chuncky soil, fertalize with every water, do not let it completely dry out, lots of light, don’t let it get to cold. Use a liquid fertilizer mixed in the wster and room temp is fine but if you let your place get below 60 at night it might not thrive. Also just because all the leaves died off it does not mean it is dead. They can go dormant for months as long as the corm/stalk is still firm it is still alive. Good luck.

They’re great candidates for semi-hydro or hydro. I grew out a bunch of corms and now have 3 in LECA, 2 in fluval and 2 in water. Much less fussy than when I had one in soil.
If you’re not comfortable with transitioning from soil, you can try it out once this one gives you some corms.
