South side of the house so shaded almost all the time, soil is clay, in Newcastle NSW. Ideally I’d like to plant natives but I’m having trouble finding anything that might be suited. Would welcome any ideas!
It’s an entryway by the gates at the back and also access to electricity meter and other equipment needing access..
A creative paving seems applicable and if you want a view of plants from your windows then hanging plants on sturdy added pole structures with moisture loving ground cover like mint underneath also catching the water from the hanging displays…interesting or practical objects hung to view such as wind chimes or garden sculptures could also add to the mix.
Happy creating ..

Your windows are higher than the fence line, so different to mine but I have jasmine on a trellis next to the fence so i look at the vines instead of just the fence.
It doesn’t get too many hours of sun because of the narrow passage, but that keeps the growth in check. Never had to water them beyond the first couple of weeks (VIC) and it’s been very easy to maintain. If the conditions are too good it depends on what level of upkeep youre okay with as i think it might need pruning more regularly in that case.
