I recently moved into an apartment and took someone else’s spot, and they left this plant. I’ve never been good at caring for plants but this one is so pretty I want to make it work. I believe it’s a Regal Shield according to the rest of the group.
I just want an idea of how I can make it thrive. Could it use a support pole of some kind? Does it need deeper soil? I want to move it out of this corner but because it’s so flopped over it won’t fit anywhere else. I also don’t know if it needs a larger pot. The roommate told me to water it like 1-2 times a week or when the soil gets dry but that’s about it

Recommend putting it right in front of the sliding door. It’s really stretching for that light based on the pic. Water it before it goes completely dry.
this is indeed a regal shield and it’s one of the sturdiest alocasia in my experience! so beautiful.
It’s flopped on one side because it’s looking for the light. the solution might be a light repot to straighten it and then remember to rotate it every week. or accept it like it is <3
water when almost dry. personally, I just lift the pot. is is light? I water. still heavy? I wait. that’s about it. remember to get rid of eccess water, they easily rot.
fertilize once a month.
Id leave it where it is until you get it on a watering schedule. They are heavy feeders so give it half dose of fertilizer with each watering. I use a basic SuperThrive Foliage Pro. It looks to me like it likes that corner. Alos are finicky so I would really think about if you need to move it or not. Otherwise, great plant!!
