Dry stacked with rebar on the inside to ensure the top layer doesn’t tip if someone really pulls on it. Had galvanized steel fabricated to cover the openings on the top.

Three stalls for hot composting, one for cold, and one for storing browns.

Going to use cinder blocks to hold in boards on the front, as needed.

…. If you’re happy with it, I’m happy you’re happy.

Well. Looks cleaner than the majority of kitchens lol. Definitely overkill for composting.

You must not live somewhere too hot. I could cook eggs on those things in August in Texas.

  4. acuteinsomniac

How do you prevent animals from getting to it?

  5. izvrsno

I’m sucker for nature style, but as long as you happy:)
And what the he’ll are you growing, needing 5 bins?

  6. XsamsquanchieX

Should have spaced the blocks out with 1in, maybe 2in gaps. Airflow.

I would suggest you put some cardboard between your compost and the cinder blocks, as they can drain the moisture pretty quickly, especially with high temperatures.
I have two raised beds made with cinder blocks and it’s definitely something I have to keep an eye on from time to time.

That’s too nice. Time to piss on it.

    Living the dream, I see.
Well done, looks amazing. Would love to see a follow up when they are in business.

5 Bays? I think you should come over and build me one 😉 Awesome job!

  12. No-Dig_Enthusiast

Are you able to create enough materials to fully utilise FIVE bays? That’s a huge amount of compost to be creating for a home gardener.

It does look class though, I was able to recycle an old child’s bedframe for mine 😅 holds loads and works for me.

Mother of God. Your compost looks better than my garden.

Well. If that’s your dream then bless your sweet heart for getting it!

Now I’m a bit embarrassed of the nice wood pallets we used to build ours. And hi from the UP

Oh my brother… you can’t dry stack CMU block. It’s a code violation and grounds for your homeowners insurance to drop your coverage.

Visually I think it looks great, but you gotta mortar and bond beam that shit man…

I hope you’ll update in the future with how this set up works out. Will be interesting to see with all the concerns and speculation, what actually happens.

I’m pretty new to composting, what is are the cold, hot, and browns piles and what are the different products they make

No fully closed one for animal scraps?

  20. PicassosGhost

The amount of money that was completely wasted on this astounds me tbh.

My first thought was ouch if I put my bare hand on the metal in peak summer.

  22. Elsavagio

OP please make sure the reflection off that stainless steel isn’t gonna burn your house down… I wouldn’t trust that

  23. Several_Round5635

This looks killer but it makes me sad that those wall caps don’t have end caps on them.

House fire potential? Thought composts should be away from living structures?
