I’ve had this Christmas cactus for 5 years. It’s the longest I’ve had any plant. She’s starting dying and I don’t know why. I keep her in the back of the room that gets light from a north facing window. How can I save her?! I water the same as I always have, whenever the top 3 inches are dry. I’m unsure what potting mix I used. I think it was the same mix that I bought it in. what can I do?

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

I’m not sure there’s a coming back from this. It looks dehydrated. You can try to water prop some cuttings that looks the best. But there’s no guarantee.

How often were you watering it?

How often are you watering it?

What kind of soil is it in?

I see two living branches, twist off those and stick them in soil. Keep the soil slightly damp and they’ll grow roots

What type of water are you using? It looks dehydrated.
Does the pot have a hole to drain the water?
My Christmas cactus usually do well with one a week water in the summer and every 2 weeks in the winter.

Cut and prop the green bits that are left. Let the cut part callous over for a few hours than place them on a smaller pot ideally with more of a cactus succulent mix of soil that is lightly damp. They should grow roots from the calloused part. It will take awhile and you’ll lose some of them. Just lightly moist the top of the soil when it dries out until they have proper roots growing and show they’re established. Then maybe bottom water.
