There were 3 plants in a pot – when I bought from shop. After 1.5 years, this summer, one of them started yellowing – leaves, then stems, then base and died. Now I see the same happening to my second plant too. It gets some light from windows opposite to it. I usually water half bottle(500ml) per week. But I may have watered a bit more this summer. The soil has never been changed, not sure what the mix is from the shop. Mud was sticking to my finger when I did the 2 inch test, so I did not water as of now.
Should I dig up the surface to check for any root rot?
Or dont disturb in this summer heat and just move to better light?
Please help, I think second one is dead too and I dont want the last one to die next.

More light is necessary.
You need a more gritty mix for BOP, like coco coir with added Perlite, Bark, Sand so it drains quicker to prevent root rot.
