Those two trees placed on small slope from the lawn. It’s magnolia tree and almond (smaller) , almond for three years straight unable to properly make bigger branches, they dry out and die most of the time …
Is this because of the weed fabric or because of that some grass feed is flowing to trees when it rains? Or both ?

Could be the plastic fabric that deprives old homeboy here of moisture. Please just remove the tarp. No it wont make pulling out weeds easier. Seeds and soil come from above in form of leaves that degrade back to soil. So weeds will still grow regardless of the tarp. The added benefit of the tarp is, in a few winters time, the plastic will be so degraded that every root you pull will have some tarp stuck to it. So now your not only pulling weeds but weeds and plastic as one.
If anything, removing the weed tarp is a first step for the wellbeing of the tree and everyone else. Its just garbage in the garden

Its the black plastic tarp of doom. It dosent do anything good. Just get rid of it.
How can that tree breathe? Dig that plastic thing on the ground.
