I made my first attempt at hand pollination on 4/22. These two were successful!! Two questions if anyone can help me out.

  1. How long until these pop?
  2. I know it’s an Euphorbia Decaryi. What is the variety? I see factors of Spirosticha and Capsaintemariensis. Both sold as cuttings labeled “Euphorbia Decaryi”

It looks like the seed pods are pointing upwards, which is usually a sign in madagascan species that the seed pod will pop soon, you’ll want to put something around them to catch the seed.

Tough to tell from this angle, but the bracts look more like E. capsaintmariensis. E. spirosticha has more hooded bracts.

Mesh jewelry bags work well for this purpose. They look ready to blow any day. As to species, this one is especially difficult in a genus of difficult IDs. Lots of hybrids
