I have this and it’s wild violet, a real bitch to fight.

Anything with Triclopyr. At a big box store it’s Ortho Weed B Gon with the purple label/top (labeled Chickweed/Clover/Oxalis). Maybe add a little dish soap as a surfactant.

Lawn care professional, NE Ohio. It is ground ivy. As was mentioned a product with Triclopyr works. I use Crossbow. Be sure to add a surfactant to help it stick. This product will kill any type of weed in your lawn.
Keep in mind granular weed killers don’t work well. Spraying for weeds is far more effective.

Wild violet. I spray triclopyr every 2 weeks.

Speedzone took care of it for me.

How much shade does this patch get?
I have the same kind of patch with almost 100% shade and aside from trying to seed the shit out of it I’m just accepting the fact that it’s just not a spot that’s meant for grass.
Also, wild violet spreads with rhizomes. If I have to spray gallons of weed killer on it, it just seems like it’s counterproductive.
Edit: someone else said this is Creeping Charlie. That’s even worse. Other than digging it up, it’s there to stay.

2-4D will knock this out without issue. It won’t even yellow the grass if you get it before it gets hot.

I’ve been fighting it for 2 years now. Best herbicide I’ve found that works is Crossbow. Be very accurate with your mixing as it can burn your grass a bit if you go heavy on it or the surfactant.

Definitely ground ivy, not wild violet. I’ve had both. Had a lot of success pulling up the ground ivy. It has runners, so its kind of satisfying to pull if a smaller area. I would hand pull as much as you can tolerate and then treat as mentioned.

I will go with Trimec Speed Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate, that is the only thing that has worked for me.
DoYouSeeWhatIDidTher
Tzone herbicide should work. Its a 4 way herbicide similar to speedzone but with triclopyr added to the other 3 herbicides 2-4D, dicamba, and sulfentrazone. It should be safer for lawn grass and has the added benefit of being more versatile in killing a wider range of weeds. Also doesnt cost as much.

With all the different sprays everyone has listed, are they also grass safe ? I’d hate to spray and then it kills the grass too.
