I found out I was overwatering recently and have adjusting my watering schedule already. Are these first fruits a result of the overwatering or something else?

  1. No. It’s part of the tomatoes genes. Whatever the picture shows is best case scenario. Companies do mislabel seeds sometimes, it’s happened to me.

Whatever that tomato is doing right there is because it’s dna is telling it to do that.

It also is a sign of multiple blossoms forming a clump of tomatoes. It looks like a single tomato, but that thing is probably going to be packed with seeds and weird flesh and fiber once you pick it..

Yeah nothing to do with overwatering. Looks like a few flowers fused together. Very normal

No. Overwatering is one of those tomato myths. Improper watering can lead to issues with fungal infections but there is no way any amount of water is going to have a morphological impact on the fruit. Don’t worry about that.

Two things are likely going on. Is this from one of the first fruit clusters? If so it could be a tomato from a megabloom, which is when more than one flower gets fused together and can create large weird fruit. And/or the seed pack could have been mislabled. This kinda looks like a Cuor di Bue or Italian Oxheart tomato. If all the fruit is looking like this, you definately got a mislabeled seed pack or one of tjose seeds just got mixed in and you got lucky.

I think it’s cool when this happens
