Grow zone 5b.

My father is all "you're destroying your property value"

I don't care, lower taxes

"It looks bad"

I like free* food

"what if someone just steals some stuff that's growing?"

Sounds like they're hungry. I ain't growing it to look at.

They look great! Love the color. I have grown vegetables in my front yard off and on for years and have never had anyone steal from me. At least, not so much that I’ve noticed.

I love the “you’re destroying your property value” argument. If you’re not planning on moving anytime soon who cares about property value?

Share a picture once it’s grown and producing. Then talk about property values. Not just boomers buying houses.

Land is the most valuable asset, and the most desirable one. Somehow majority of the population ( in US ) think that actively poison the land, let it sit consume large amounts of water and generate absolutely nothing except property taxes is a good idea.

The mind set of treating a property as something to be sell later need to go, instead treat it as a place to live and grow.

Just came to say you have an amazing and generous mindset, and I love the blue. Best of luck with growing! You gotta post some updates.

If you want inspo Jaq Peppin has a YouTube video where he tours you through his herb garden and it’s the coolest most beautiful herb garden.

Hey, house shopping and would be more interested in homes that have some no lawn version either on the property already or on a like minded neighbor’s property.
