Recently started to notice these red spots on my obesa cluster. They are not soft and it hasn't been watered in 2 weeks. It's potted in cactus soil and lots of perlite. I've had this obesa since 2020..it was a single ball at that time, but then a rat came sometime between 2020-2021 and ate up a lot of my succulents including this one. The rat practically sawed off its entire head. I thought it was a goner but I kept it dry for months and then started watering it again and it pushed out a bunch of pups in 2022. It's been growing nicely since then. The pups are about the size of a pingpong ball now. I live in southern California. It's kept outdoors in an open patio. Receives full morning sun and is shaded by an umbrella in the afternoons. Could it be fungal? Or possibly heat stress? Or something else.. we have been getting some fluctuating weather recently, so could It be that? No pests that I can see. Anyone else seen something like this?

wow, ate the whole top off!
I have 80 Obesas and 3 or 4 of mine had the same last year. I still don’t know what it is.
I asked here at the time and someone told me theirs developed that too and happened to be some fungal infection and ended up dying with root problems.
I ignored mine and they were left with a scar, some bigger than others, but noone of them died. And I just kept treating them like any other.
So, in the end, I don’t know what it is, but its wasn’t fatal for mine. A couple of them didn’t end up very pretty.
Good luck
