Swing set came with the house. I'm thinking of removing it.. not sure if that helps/hurts the tree. Might have to leave that crossbeam that it's grown around.
Any tips/thoughts?
My dog was eating the bark so I put that little fence there. I don't know if these black streaks mean anything?
I love this tree and want to do right by it

Thats not a tree its a rock or a weed. Remove the whole thing and plant a big native fruit or two
I wouldnt keep either. Just clear the whole space and plant a better tree perhaps?
Takes a long time to grow a tree. Just cut the cross piece off and hope for the best. Tree look heathy enough otherwise.
If it was mine, I’d cut the cross beam, then see if I could use a smaller piece of wood as a peg and see if I could knock the crossbeam through the tree with a sledgehammer. Might be too stuck, but I’d at least give it a shot. Tree probably would be thankful to get it fully out. 🤷🏻♂️
Just cut the crossbeam and leave it.
Those dark areas likely indicate decay at those unions, looks to be some included bark. Maybe get an arborist out to reduce the weight on those limbs.
