
I drive a beer delivery truck for a living. Today at one of my deliveries, a fairly large regional grocery chain in my area, I saw this zebrina so I grabbed it but I’m a little shocked that this is the name they chose to put on the tag.

There’s no consensus on this. Some Jewish people like the name or are indifferent to it, and some dislike it.

Ugh, we had a ton of this arrive pre-tagged to the garden center I work at, and after the 3rd person called our (gay, Latino) annuals manager a racist for not picking the stickers off, he went around with a sharpie and blacked them all out.
We just call it tradescantia. Everything here is by Latin names, anything else is too easily confused.
I have pondered if it wasn’t first called Wandering Jewel, given the colors and the sparkle…and imagined one day someone said it wrong, and that started being used instead.
I’ve wondered similarly about butterflies. It just makes sense that they were first called flutterbys.
I named mine Sabrina the Zebrina
