Was trying to drill holes for salt or herbicide. 1"x17.5" drill bit stuck in the 3rd hole. My spanner wrench was slipping on it.

How should I try to extract?

Drill additional holes close to the current stuck bit to relieve pressure. I would recommend at a slight angle

I’d ignore all this drill and chemicals and just dig the thing out … A mini X can have that out in like 3 minutes

Vice grips and some piss and vinegar.

Pipe wrench and screw it out.

Is this how we find the king of the suburbs?

Get an impact with a deep socket the size of the hex shank and slam it in reverse. Ask me how I know it works 😂

Impact driver switching between forward and reverse until it budges, or a big wrench on the hex part to twist it back and forth (be careful not to bend the bit, it’s hard to keep it straight).

The wet chips get compressed super tight in the groove if you don’t back the bit out frequently to clear it, and that creates too much friction against the walls of the hole for it to turn.

And maybe rent a bigger drill that can deliver more torque? Use the biggest thing you can find that takes that SDS bit style.

Rent a plug in Milwaukee right angle drill. And be prepared.

have you tried spraying a lubricant into the gaps in the bit?

Can you get an impact driver on the end of that?

I did the same thing once. Lots of cussing, forward/reverse and channel locks because thats all I had at the time. It can be done but you’re in for an uphill battle. God speed my brother.

I now own a stump grinder.

This happened to me with that same drill bit. Cut the wood all around the area near the drill bit and wiggle it back and forth

Glad I’m not the only one this happened to. Elbow grease and vice grips. Good luck.

hit it with a mallet / sledgehammer from side to side to loosen it.

I think I would have used vice grips and been done with it instead of taking a picture and posting to reddit
