This lawn was put down about 1wk ago. Is this a normal appearance? Seems like a lot of dead grass. Basically wanted a field kids could run and play soccer on. I realize Zoysia isn’t ideal but wanted it still to be as flat as possible. Still quite lumpy.
How can I know if the install was done correctly? I’m wanting to be sure I’m not being unreasonable in my “asks”. They are asking for full payment now.

Are you watering it?
As in a lot more than you normally would. 2-4 times a day (rain excluded here) 20-40 mins each – and all depending on your location, heat, etc.
Gotta keep it hydrated, but not so much it drowns.
Too little, and you just end up with a carpet of dead grass and the roots won’t take to the soil.
Depending on where you are zoysia can still be coming out of dormancy, add in some transplant shock and it can look pretty rough. As the other comment said you need to water, aggressively. Also should throw down a starter fert if you haven’t already. You should have a very good idea of which areas are good and which didn’t make it in the next month. Zoysia will self heal and fill in the dead areas but much slower than a bermuda and kids playing on it will slow that process. All in all I would take a weekly picture so you can see the change yourself as well as document the conditions it you need to complain after memorial day.
You do know you shouldn’t play soccer in a freshly laid field of sod, right?
Looking to get zoysia done on my own yard(way down the road very expensive) so I’m follow all the notes here!
Not looking great… was it initially all green?
milorganite asap
That is donezo
Thats a acre not a lawn /s
You need to water, a lot, flood it daily until it roots. Keep traffic off until it’s rooted and mowed a couple times

Your grass when water finally hits it.
We had a zoysia lawn installed last year and it’s done great. You need to be watering this either one long session daily or twice a day minimum. You don’t want to drown it, but the soil underneath should be wet constantly for sure. And stop the soccer asap. You need to minimize traffic on it until has taken.
That’s a very large area to be watering as aggressively as you need to with fresh sod, I’d be panicking running around moving the sprinkler
