We have two Nashi Pear Trees in our backyard which used to be absolutely stunning. For the last two years however possums have eaten every leaf and the trees have been completely bear. Even when one leaf pops up, it’s gone within 48 hours. The trees are still alive but without leaves in summer they look dead… How do we stop this? All other trees around our property and in our neighbours yards haven’t been touched by possums like this.
We’ve cut the trees back, have tried those fake owls, possum repellent from Bunnings and homemade, but nothing has helped!

What about that stuff they put on wooden power poles to stop them climbing it? Like a ring of metal or something slippery? And cut away from the fence/other jumping points so they can’t leap across (idk if possums are jumpers 😅)
Aside from that my only other suggestion would be a BAN. Big Ass Net.
It might be worth looking at some tree guards [https://treeamigosvictoria.com.au/possum-guards/](https://treeamigosvictoria.com.au/possum-guards/) although the positioning might be tricky.
