Hi guys,
I've been growing this fig tree in the ground for a couple of years now. I've been wanting to cut this tree back by a lot, but I've no idea how I should go about this. Could you guys please suggest how you would approach this tree?

This variety of fig is rarely used for bonsai, so I find it difficult to find guides or inspiration that would apply here. As you can see in the pictures, the branches are long and don't really branch-out. The tree also doesn't really have a good shape, movement or direction.

Is it in a container in the ground?

  2. You can prune it back hard and it should back bud just fine. You can also stick each branch you cut off into the ground, and they will root.
