I’m considering whether or not I should buy this variegated Thaumatophyllum Bipinnatifidum Variegata (Variegated Philodendron Tree) for $500. Haven’t been able to find any others for sale in Australia. What does everyone think, worth it?
Its absolutely beautiful and its a large plant. I think its worth your money! I say get it!!

If you’ve got the space for it. It will eventually grow ginormous. Lol. I love them! I don’t have the space for them.
Guess it’s time to move huh?! 🤣

If some point in your mind says- no, listen to it, $500 is too much, think wisely before buying it, or search somewhere else, maybe u can get a cutting or a different plant at less price.
It’s my personal opinion.

It’s beautiful but expensive ! Your call.

I bought a tiny one when they got here in Brazil for $160 and now about a 1.5 year later plants almost your pictures size are about $80 here 😵💫🥴 If they just arrived in your country I advise to wait a little bit more

I know what subreddit we’re on but £500 is honestly an absurd amount to spend on a houseplant – obviously your financial situation is yours to know and if it doesn’t make that much of a dent then sure go for it, it is undeniably a beautiful specimen

For that size and variegation, i think the price is reasonable. Here’s mine so you’ll get more tempted 😂
I mean, it looks big and healthy, the price seems fair, they have $500 isn’t that big of a deal to you then why not? My only concern would be that with the rate of everything going into tissue culture these might be a quarter of the price next year, but I guess it just depends on How badly you want it

I’ve spent more on a plant that went down in price in months. And I’m still deliriously happy with the purchase. If you truly love it – I say get it.

Plants are like art.
Buy what you like, as long as the price makes sense to you.
It’s the plant has awesome genetics. Don’t let someone else tell you what’s to much or to little, especially when they wouldn’t pay $500 for any plant
