This milestone for the November 2025 to October 2026 period has been achieved significantly earlier than the same stage during the previous year, signalling strong local support for the scheme.
Current records show that 77,123 subscriptions have been processed so far. With daily sign-ups continuing to rise, the local authority is confident that the final tally will surpass last year’s overall total of 77,158. The service, now in its second year of operation, allows residents to pay a fee of £58 per bin for kerbside collections throughout the twelve-month cycle.
David Vasmer, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for waste management, expressed his satisfaction with the uptake and the efficiency of the programme. He noted that the high engagement levels reflect the practical value the service provides to residents across the county.
“We’re really pleased with the number of households that have so far subscribed for the year ending 31 October 2026, which shows that people clearly value and make good use of the service. We’ve hit our target and are on track to beat last year’s total, and I want to thank everyone that has signed up,” Councillor Vasmer stated.
As the spring season encourages more activity in gardens and allotments, the council is urging those who have not yet registered to consider doing so. By signing up for the collection service, residents can ensure their green waste is managed sustainably without the need for personal trips to recycling centres.
Councillor Vasmer added: “As we’re now into the time of year when people spend more time doing jobs in their garden we’re reminding people that if they have any garden waste we can take it away for them – all they have to do is sign up to the collection service.”
