THE third annual Plein Air Painting Competition is returning to Painswick this month.

This open-air event, organised by Watch This Space Collective, is taking place in the Rococo Garden on Saturday, May 16.

The competition is open to all two-dimensional artists over 18, with a variety of media and styles encouraged.

Participants are invited to capture the historic garden’s unique charm and atmosphere through their artistic interpretation.

Prizes, sponsored by various patrons, include a £250 cash prize for the overall winner, free framing, and £100 cash prizes for specific style categories.

Other prizes include a £50 art materials voucher.

The judging panel includes award-winning artist Roger Dellar, known for his plein air expertise, prize-winning artist Jaynie Cordell, and former Spencer House Gallery owner Chris Woodcock.

Selected works will be displayed in a group exhibition at the Rococo Garden as part of Stroud Open Studios on June 13 to 14 and June 20 to 21.

The event aims to support local artists and the wider creative community.
