*** edit *** we took off the soil and mulch to allow for the root flare to be exposed will update with a pic tomorrow … it’s too dark right now and I need a drink! ****

We finally got her moved. She looks happy, time will tell if she stays that way. In addition to the dirt and root ball we added Japanese maple fertilizer, 8 huge bags of soil and 10 bags of mulch.. and lots and lots of water

Looks a bit low. Keep it dug out around the trunk down to the root ball.

I would’ve done this when it was dormant but you don’t always get to make the rules. I hope it does well

Its chances are not good. For anyone else who had more time to plan something like this I’d do it in early spring when it’s first covered in little green buds. Tree/bush whatever will have transferred most of its energy into the trunk and ready to explode. And what could have helped this tree or any tree getting moved with leaves on would be defoliation. The new root ball can’t support the giant canopy, it’s just gonna transpire itself to death. Edit: they did do a good job getting hella rootball though, who knows.
