Tulip, MA, USA, watering ~2x per week plus rain. It’s west facing under an oak tree just starting to grow leaves now, so gets a good 10 hours of sunlight a day coming from the west. Planted last October in blend of compost and loamy soil. All surrounding tulips and plants are maturing normally, could it be a mutation?

Sometimes they just do that. Or the bud got damaged early on.
