I have all my humidity loving plants grouped on this shelf only. I would ideally need a humidifier that only increases the humidity locally and so that it doesn't damage any of the walls/wood. Is something like this possible?

Could a diffuser without aroma work instead? My fern is slowly dying against all my efforts so I need to solve this quickly

You should look into a humidity tray, or otherwise a pebble tray. Its like the drip tray you put under plants but a bit bigger, filled with pebbles and a bit of water. It creates an area with a locally higher humidity.

You can also find tiny aroma diffusers, but I have round that they can cause humidity damage if placed close to walls.
