Built a little bunker (that was definitely not enough space, to throw grass from mowing my lawn, since I got a mower with a bagger, and am curious. Is this mold, just dehydration, or what on the grass pile? I turned it, since I read you are supposed to, but every time I leave it sit for a bit it gets this cloudy white texture on it. I’m assuming that’s fine?

It is a pile, it has organic matter on it. Composting pile. Now is it a good one? Ill let someone smarter than me explain, I just use a bucket with coffee counts and food scrap
I got a cloudy white surface in my tumbler to. I think its just part of the composting process. But maybe someone else knows what it is exactly.
That white is probably mold but it’s not bad a good compost pile will have some steamy-dusty white powder like that, usually see it when I’m turning the pile.
Could do with some water and a bit of mixing
Needs consistent, complete dampness to compost.
White can either be a bacteria that looks like ash, or fungal mycelium depending.
Did you piss on it ?
The white stuff is mold. It’s what turns dog shit white. It’s a strain of fungus that’s quite UV resistant so it can take over surface level organic matter whilst a lot of others require shading
