Aloe Plant No Roots

Hello, my aloe plant was rotting so I took off the unhealthy leaves/and cut the stem. I let it dry and now I’m trying to grow the roots back, but they just won’t come! I put in soil that was dry and then I tried to keep the soil a little moist, but I just don’t know what to do. I’m at a loss.
