The University of Wisconsin-Madison Door County Extension offers online assistance to gardeners through webinars and a virtual help desk.
Future webinars include an apple insect series on Friday, May 15 and Friday, June 12, from 12 to 1 pm. Sessions focus on codling moths and apple maggots, respectively.
Another webinar will focus on rhubarb history, production and management, along with practical guidance for successful growing and care, on Thursday, May 14 at 6 pm. Registration is required.
A live webinar held monthly on Wednesdays allows gardeners to connect with plant health experts and ask questions about trees and shrubs, homegrown fruits and vegetables, indoor plants, flowering ornamentals, lawns and more. Upcoming sessions take place on May 20, June 17 and July 15.
A complete list of online programs and registration can be found at hort.extension.wisc.edu/free-online-programs.
Gardeners in need of advice can also fill out the online Ask Your Gardening Question form with photos of their concern at hort.extension.wisc.edu/ask-a-gardening-question. An expert will respond to inquiries via email.
For those who would rather talk to someone, the Horticulture Help Desk offers real-time access to a horticulture professional. Office hours are Mondays and Thursdays, from 1 to 3 pm. For more in-depth questions that go beyond quick answers, book a one-on-one session with the Horticulture Help Desk at go.wisc.edu/horthelpdesk.
