While RONA Portage has long been a go-to destination for seasonal essentials—including grass seed, fertilizer, gardening tools, lawn mowers, hoses, soil, and aggregate stone—the new Garden Centre marks a major expansion. Customers can now explore a wide selection of plants, flowers, and greenery, making RONA Portage a true one-stop shop for all planting, gardening, and outdoor living needs.
The new Garden Centre has been designed with convenience in mind. Customers can easily access it directly from inside the store through the seasonal department doors on the east side. For larger or heavier purchases, the experience is just as seamless – simply complete your purchase and drive into the yard, where the RONA team will assist with loading soil, plants, rock, and more. Delivery services are also available for those who need an extra hand getting their purchases home.

Big changes in recent months
The Garden Centre opening comes at an exciting time for the store overall. Over the past 12 weeks, the team at RONA Portage has completed a significant in-store reset and renovation, reorganizing aisles to expand inventory and improve product displays. These updates are all part of an ongoing commitment to enhance the shopping experience.
In addition, customers will now benefit from improved online product visibility, allowing them to check in-store availability and pinpoint exactly where items are located… before they even arrive. The store introduced electronic shelf labels in 2025, ensuring accurate pricing and automatically updated sale items, helping to eliminate missed discounts and making shopping more efficient.
As the only locally owned lumber yard in Portage la Prairie, RONA Portage takes pride in continuing to invest in the community and evolve alongside customer needs.
To celebrate the Garden Centre grand opening, customers can take advantage of special sales on live goods throughout the event. There will also be a chance to win a $500 RONA gift certificate! Entering is simple- after making a purchase, customers just need to show the
customer service team the product location on their phone to be automatically entered into the draw.
