A new outdoor hospitality and events venue Lost Oasis will open this summer at St Martin-in-the-Fields overlooking Trafalgar Square.
Running from June to August this year, the project will transform part of the central London site into a temporary garden and entertainment space combining food, sport screenings and live performances.
Lost Oasis is being delivered in collaboration with The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Blue Forest, with planting provided in partnership with Architectural Plants. The installation will feature timber-built structures integrated with tropical and evergreen planting, including palms, jasmine and ferns.
The programme will include a series of chef residencies throughout the summer. Participating chefs include Nathan Outlaw and Simon Stallard.
The venue will also host public screenings of sporting events including the FIFA World Cup, Wimbledon Championships and the British Grand Prix. Additional programming includes live music in partnership with Sofar Sounds, comedy events and ticketed performances.
Several themed bar areas will form part of the site. The Mud Maid Bar is based on the Mud Maid sculpture at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Other areas include the Cornish Orchard Cider Tree installation and The Whispering Bar, which will focus on wine, rosé and strawberry-based drinks.
The centre of the site will feature a planted garden with climbing greenery, living walls and pollinator habitats intended for both daytime and evening use.
Organisers said the space is designed to operate as a public social venue as well as a location for private and ticketed events.
The SHS Collective founder Tom Grafton said, “It’s been a long time in the making and excited to finally deliver a highly elevated and curated space for London to enjoy. At its core, Lost Oasis is about creating a beautiful outdoor space people love spending time in over the summer whilst transporting them somewhere new and magical.”
