First year trying to start seeds and I dont know what's normal or good yet. Just curious if my lights are too far away and these are stretching or if this is okay

Yeah, you can’t them outside for proper sunshine ?

People are often too cautious with grow lights. On a hot summer’s day the sun can deliver one kilowatt per square meter…
Perhaps a photograph showing your setup and an indication of how powerful your lamp is?

They could definitely be a lotttt worse. Looks like they are just starting to stretch so yea moving lights closer is a good idea. I literally just googled the type of grow light I had and there were a few good articles on proper distance

Mine look similar and they’re growing in the ground.

A little bit leggy, but not terrible for a first attempt. They still look healthy overall.

The stretched stems usually mean the lights could be a bit closer or stronger. Marigolds generally like a LOT of light once they sprout.

    I’d probably:
    • move the lights a little closer
    • add gentle airflow with a small fan
    • remove the humidity dome/plastic if they’ve already germinated
    • rotate the tray occasionally if they’re leaning toward one side

The good news is marigolds are pretty forgiving and grow fast. These definitely don’t look beyond saving or anything close to that.
