I got this 10 gallon tank for free from someone who also got it for free. She said they had sealed it themselves after a large crack formed on the side. It technically holds water but I plan on putting coconut coir and land snails in it. Land snails like to scrape along the glass and take a bite out of anything interesting, so for that reason im guessing it may not be safe for them.
I dont know if anyone could identify the possible sealant and if its worth the risk. I also would like to know if the reflective tape is there for any reason and if I can take it off or not.
I am absolutely willing to take more photos and test ideas within my capabilities. The snails have not been purchased yet so I can always rehome/trash this tank.

Need help identifying a mold or fungus? That can only be achieved using professional sampling methods and laboratory analysis. Your environment is too wet. if it’s a wet environment purposely it needs ventilation.

I wouldnt trust any cracked or chipped tank to hold water, however if you plan on using it for snails as a terrarium, I think it should be ok 🤔 it does seem weird how they used reflective tape to fix it, I’m not sure what would happen if you remove it.
