KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WCYB) — On Wednesday, people living in the Lynn Garden community were evacuated to a nearby church, as law enforcement attempted to take control of the situation.
“Currently, we’re investigating what we believe to be a suspicious device or substance at an address on Cooper Street,” Corporal Brandon Arnold said.
For hours, law enforcement blocked access to Cooper Street and the surrounding roads, but News 5 did receive video from a neighbor showing law enforcement near Cooper Street early into the investigation. We asked Kingsport follow-up questions to try to get more information.
“We haven’t identified what it is yet,” we asked.
“No,” Corporal Arnold replied.
“Have law enforcement been inside the home yet?”
“That’s all the information I can give you right now.”

“We don’t know what’s going on truthfully. I was at work. My wife called me. Text me and said call her. When I called her, she said they wouldn’t let her back in the house and that they were evacuating everybody.” “my main thing was making sure I get home and make sure my family is alright,” a neighbor, Toriano Baldwin, said.
