Butternut squash

I managed to grow three butternut squash this season, i had spoken to a lot of others in my city (Auckland) and they had also had a terrible growing season for their squash too! But proud this fella made it! What are your best tips for growing butternut squash, I want to give them another shot next season as we LOVE them in my house.

This one snapped off the vine far too easily when I was weeding today so I gathered she was as ready as she will ever be on the vine.
