The tree is mature, it was thus big when we moved here 9 years ago (SE Michigan). It has bloomed every spring except this year. I trim it once a year, usually in the summer, when the branches start to get annoying low because I don't want to smack my head into them anymore.

I'm pretty sure it's past the time it would bloom because there are a couple of flowers, but lots of leaves.

I attached a photo from last year's bloom and what it looks like today. Yeah, looks a little sad compared to past years.

  1. We had a late freeze where I am right at bloom break and it froze all the blooms off.

In the Midwest and Upper Midwest, we had very early warm temperatures back in February and March. Usually, trees will flower before putting on leaves, I’ve noticed. This year, the samaras around me for maples didn’t occur. Neither did any flowering besides pear trees. I’d say since it’s leafing out that the late freeze wiped out the first phase of growth this spring.

If this is a weeping cherry, the weeping part died and the rootstock took over. Nonetheless, the most common problem this spring on the tree subs is freeze damage.
