I guess this is a humble brag, so sorry, but this week marks our 5 year anniversary of owning this house. Here are 3 before and afters showing what we’ve done over the years!

No more dying trees that would have fallen over by now. No more rotting fence with rusty nails. No more poison ivy. Just a nice relaxing place for the kids to play!

The house sat on the market in 2020-2021 while homes around us were selling like hotcakes for above asking price. I guess I was the only one that saw the potential, and I’m so happy with the results!

  1. Tree guy here, not to rain on your parade but best practice is to not have tree rings, mostly because people can’t help but fill the rings with mulch and it buries the root flares.

You want all your trees to have exposed root flares. It’s where the oxygen exchange for trees happens. If you don’t your trees will send out adventitious roots and those adventitious roots can girdle and kill the tree. Sometimes at year 2, sometimes by year 10.

Expose those flares so you can have beautiful mature trees that don’t die prematurely!

I like the edging around the playset
