I posted when I bought this beautiful Thai on clearance. The soil was so dry it would need a water again not even the next day. Two weeks ago I changed the soil over. Last few days I noticed some yellow leaves. Took it out and it’s all rot 🙁 I cleaned it all up and repotted in fresh much more aerated soil but I’m super nervous. When do I water this next? Do I wait for the soil to completely dry out again until it’s bone dry? Ive never dealt with root rot before so unsure of the plan. It’s already lost 3 lower leaves

This was the roots before I changed the soil 💔
new soil looks rather dense and maybe holding too much water! perhaps try some more aerated soil and pertile
I had this same problem with one of my monsteras when I wasn’t thinking and potted it up in soil that was too dense.
I got rid of the old soil and cleaned the roots off with lots of water until the soil was completely gone. Then I let the roots soak a few minutes in a container of water with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to kill the root rot bacteria. I potted it back up in more appropriate soil and added some cinnamon (it is antibacterial) it took a while but it eventually bounced back and looks good now.
I can’t tell if the roots you have left have rot or not but definitely go easy on the watering for a while. Before watering stick your finger deep in the soil and if you feel any moisture on your finger when you pull it out wait on watering longer. You could also buy a moisture meter but be aware that the chunkier the soil is the more the meter will struggle to give an accurate reading.
Also make sure it is getting tons of light. They love light and don’t want partial shade despite what you may read. Stick it in the brightest window, close to the window, no more than a foot away.
