This lovely desert willow popped up between our smoke tree and vitex. All three are growing and flourishing, and unfortunately competing for space.

Would it be possible/straightforward to relocate the desert willow? We have space in another area where it would receive the same sun exposure and lots of space. I'd like to give it a chance to get as big as it wants.

Or do we just let them all be and prune heavily?

  1. … desert willow is an amazing native tree.

My advice is remove the vitex. It’s invasive.

Looks good as is, just prune as needed.

I would leave it if possible, they will all “top” off nicely on thier own or remove the invasive vitex

Vitex has taken over whole hillsides along Lake Travis.

Love your smoke tree. I would absolutely keep the desert willow and remove the vitex.

Smoke tree is an absolute dub. Those critically endangered here.

If something’s gotta go, let it be the vitex. They do not support native pollinators and they’re invasive in central Texas.

Please remove the Vitex. They are terrible for our local ecosystem.
