It is in a northwest corner window and has a grow light, although the grow light isn’t terribly strong. Is it trying to climb? If so, why would it reach out horizontally and not up the wall? Usually when I see plants reach like this they are looking for light, but this is reaching away from the light. I’m confused.

It wants to climb something. Not sure why it picked away from the light, but it did.
It’s reaching away because it wants to wrap around a support and go back towards the window.
Give it a trellis.
She just wants a hug, preferably around a trellis but her neighbor will do.

Hoyas may be aliens. Mine does crazy stuff, reaches this way and then that way. I agree, it wants something to grab onto. Like your ankle as you walk by…….
