Digging in the pots, chewing on my oaks, digging up seedlings and cuttings.

What finally worked was to wrap a double wire electric fence around the whole thing. I ran a hot wire and a ground about 2 inches apart. The squirrels are running down the fence top, so I have the two wires about 2 in apart down the fence top, and the squirrels can't traverse that without at some point touching both wires. The ends of the bench have angled wires, that they can't get through without touching both. And they can't jump up from the front onto the bench, without hitting both wires at the front of the bench.

When I installed it, the problem nearly instantly stopped. I heard a couple of pretty loud squirrel yelps the first couple early mornings, but then they stopped.

The biggest problem is forgetting to unplug it, and leaning into the wires and zapping my own torso. It'll wake you right up. And then there's the time I was pulling weeds under the bench, and stuck my forehead right into the two wires, and kind of reset my brain for 30 seconds or so. Electroconvulsive shock therapy? Certainly made the world brighter for 10 minutes or so. But eventually even I learned to just unplug the damn thing.
