The debate is about the lights in the back yard.

Side A wants there to be lights between all the gaps on the fence line.

Side B wants the light/ambiance balance to stay the way it is.

The picture slight brightens the backyard.

Shes right that’s all you need to know. 😉

I can’t really see the gaps on the fence line. But my opinion would be to keep it as it is. It sounds like side A wants to add more lights. For me ambient lighting shouldn’t drown out the space.

It looks pretty cool as is. The retaining wall lights are … chefs kiss.

Probably no help. I’d leave the fence and actually remove the 2 lights on the stone that don’t match with the fence lights to create continuity.

I’m sure you’ll get enough light between them to create the effect on the stone and have the backyard be so bright at night.

Sometimes less is more in terms of hardscape lighting.

  4. Fewer lights – want it brighter, go outside in daylight

Where did you get your firepit if you mind me asking? Love it!

If ditch the fence lights. The wall lights show you where you are stepping

Add the additional lights on a separate switch. Then you can take turns having it your way. This is how you save a marriage.

It should stay the way it is, but if you want to do it quickly and not trouble – she has to be right.

Otherwise convince her slowly untill she likes the idea.

I always get the last word in, it’s YES DEAR!

I would say there is too much light on the retaining wall, none on your disc golf basket.

I think there are too many lights on the wall.

Tell her she’s right and get a 2nd basket so you can putt back and forth

I don’t really understand what you’re asking for, but I also view that as already over-lit along the retaining wall (what are the ones on the fence above it providing for?)

Less lights is my vote. Lights are already dangerous for night animals in general. You’ll also attract more pest bugs with more lights

She will be right both times!

She will be right about wanting you to change it all up and spending the next 3 Saturdays putting in her vision in place. She will also be right when you spend the 4th Saturday taking everything down that you just put up and putting it back to the way it was after “It just wasn’t what she expected.”

Lighting should set a mood. I want to feel that I’m outside in the shadows of the evening as appose to a stadium (I can see everything) Less is more in my opinion.

  17. calindyellerman

I’d get rid of the fence lights.

Ask her about the lights when you both decide to get naked.

I’ve been married twice now. The first time was 10 years this time just broke the 10-year mark and still going. Just do what she wants man. Her idea seems right to me. Leaving it as is also seems fine. But it’s not worth the back and forth. Pick your battles.

No lights on fence. They look wonky. Keep it low on the wall and yeah could be less on the wall

  21. broccoleet

Why are there so many lights there already? Like why do you need that area so well lit lol. It doesn’t look like an important path or anything….

  22. yoloxolo

Do what she wants and then buy more discs

  23. Beniskickbutt

I vote for no lights on the fence so that the fence is more hidden at night and somewhat “blends” into the night sky

  24. dsmemsirsn

Whichever is her side— that’s correct— eventually she’ll change them.

  25. I’d remove the lights from the fence altogether. Just have the lights on the brick wall.

Do you want to be right, or do you want to be in a relationship?
