Birds always seem to flock on my lawn in particular, eating away at whatever it is they’re trying to find. I can’t understand why?

I have some brown spots scattered across, but I can’t tell whether or not that has anything to do with it.

Blackbirds are usually just looking for bugs and seeds. Nothing to really worry about.

Last time I saw this in my yard I had a major grub problem.

  3. They eat the little roly polys in my yard!

I’m down with it, I’d much rather have them than the rabbits.

they eat the insects and worms that are in your yard.

Birds are in my yard all the time and not in the neighbors lawns. In my case its probably because I haven’t sprayed my lawn in 15 years. Weeds and bugs galore.

They know where the bodies are buried.

You have edible biomass in there. Seed, new growth, or bugs most likely. If they leave holes its probably grubs. Honestly, they’re helping you. Any holes they leave are aeration.

every time I mow, the cardinals that nest in our trees come down for a meal.

it’s funny how they wait until a wide strip is cut, then land there and watch me do the rest of the yard.

Looks like grubs based on the patches in your lawn. Do the pull test and see if the dead patches pull easily. If they do get some dylox and apply and you’ll see a big improvement. I used to have birds nonstop until I treated for grubs and now the lawn looks much healthier

Doing their job to keep the balance in nature . Eco system . Eating grubs is a great thing but might not stay on top of issue . If you can pull up your yard and see the roots eaten off and it comes up real easy you need to treat for grubs asap

They always flock to mine when I start the lawnmower and start pecking the ground behind me.

I think when I cut it, it exposes bugs making them easier to catch, and when they hear a lawnmower they instinctively wanna be there for the grubs in my yard I just set on display for them

Insects and/or picking thatch to build a nest?

  13. This happens on my lawn every year. I’ve never had grubs. I’ve seen the birds pull out long earthworms, along with other smaller insects.

Hopefully not grubs. If so. You’re hopped.

  15. RemoteAccount8790

Hopefully they’re eating the grub worms that are causing your brown patches

Are people also always driving down your street?

  18. MamaSleepy

Food of some kind is attracting them.

worms, bugs; I watch our blackbirds, often they pull long worms and other insects, and often I talk with the blackbirds, they are my bros.

I’ve always heard grubs, but we had new sod installed by our builder that had army worms, and that attracted them too. If its army worms, you very likely would see them inside your house too.

You have a ton of thatch that they will use to build their next house. I suggest you nuke and start over.

What are you doing that has the government sending so many drones to spy on you jeez?

  23. kjm16216

Obviously you’re under government surveillance and they are drones.

Locally (UK) it will be leather jackets (crane fly larvae) . You will lose the lawn. Need to treat aggressively with nematodes to kill the larvae, esp in autumn. Then fix the lawn…..

    That’s what birds do lol
