This is my “sunset maple” I planted about 6 years ago. I live in northern NJ zone 7a. It was windy when I grabbed these photos. Not sure if it’s best to let trees just do there thing, but this has that long central spire which is much taller than the rest of the branches and was just wondering if I should prune at all or just let it be. Thanks!

Looks good, but you should remove the grass and increase the size of the mulch ring below. Also remove the mound and leave a small soil gap between the mulch and the trunk.
