B&M shoppers can upgrade their gardens with a ‘stylish’ new lamp for just £6. For homeware enthusiasts on the hunt for affordable lighting, the discount retailer is frequently a go-to destination. Known for stocking everything from garden lights to indoor fixtures, B&M consistently impresses its customers.
Now, shoppers can get their hands on a £6 lamp that arguably rivals a pricier alternative. The store is currently selling a ‘tropical’ table lamp that customers could compare to a £16.99 Tesco lamp. While both retailers are regularly frequented by high street shoppers, B&M holds the upper hand when it comes to price.
Despite this, both styles are likely to appeal to shoppers who may be torn between the two options. Both Tesco and B&M are offering a black solar-powered lamp featuring a tropical leaf design. Both versions are suitable for outdoor use and are comparable in size.
They are not entirely the same, however. According to the measurements, the Tesco lamp is slightly taller and features a closed top, unlike the B&M lamp, which sports an open top.
Nevertheless, shoppers may well view the B&M table lamp as a more wallet-friendly alternative to Tesco’s similar offering, though those who prefer the convenience of online delivery might be prepared to pay a little extra for it. B&M’s lamp is exclusively available in stores, whereas the Tesco lamp is only available via delivery.

Shoppers weighing up their options may want to compare the product descriptions and images on each retailer’s website, reports the Mirror. Showcasing the B&M lamp online, the bargain store says: “Illuminate your outdoor entertaining space with the Mason And Jones Solar Powered Tropical Table Lamp. Ideal for creating an inviting atmosphere in your garden, yard, or balcony with a stylish black and gold detailed finish.”
B&M says the lamp measures approximately 25.5cm. The retailer says the lamp has a ‘warm white LED colour’ and ‘rechargeable battery included.’
Showcasing the Tesco lamp online, the supermarket says the lamp “features a sleek black metal design adding a stylish, contemporary accent to any outdoor space while offering soft, ambient lighting for relaxing evenings or entertaining guests.”

The product description says: “Rechargeable and freestanding, these garden table lamps outdoor require no cords or installation, making it easy to place them anywhere on tables, balconies, patios, or garden spaces and it does not require a socket, so you can bring light into dark corners.
“Built-in light sensor of the solar table lamp, light sensor on at dusk until dawn, automatically switches on in the dark, when the sensor detects ambient light.” According to Tesco, the lamp is 30cm tall. Tesco adds that the lamp is ‘weather-resistant’ and ‘energy-efficient.’
